HUNGARY SWITCH
In 2016 he decided to end his international career with Italy and instead make himself available to the country of his birth, Hungary, claiming he had lost enthusiasm in playing for Italy. He aimed to represent Hungary at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, but the International Swimming Federation [FINA] rejected his request to change nationality because he had not spend the previous year living in Hungary. "When I was a child I used to play for Ujpest and I was training at Isla Margarita, on the Danube, in Budapest. I looked forward to playing for the great Hungary, and for a water polo player to wear the cap of that team is like for a footballer to wear the shirt of Brazil."
