After not qualifying for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, the 2011 Pan American Games, and the 2012 Olympic Games, he moved from Guadalajara to Mexico City to start training with Chinese coach Ma Jin. "It was a radical change. In Guadalajara I did so much gym training but [coach Ma Jin] made me improve my technique. In the end, both ways of training helped me to become one of the best divers in the country." (elfinanciero.com.mx, 19 Sep 2017)

FURTHER STUDIES

DIET
He does not eat meat or other animal-derived foods. "I became a vegetarian when I was 15 years old but then decided to become vegan so I could have a lighter body. The results of a diet full of vegetables are very good because I keep the strength in my body and I have lowered fat. The goal is to become a perfect machine that can execute dives at a higher level. I consider nutrition as the most important thing in order to have a good performance. I eat almost no sugar, but instead things like fish and protein shakes."
